Converse was kind enough to invite the Shoe Buff to the press event for its spring / summer 2011 event in Toronto. A gorgeous event at the Gladstone Hotel on Queen Street West, Converse showcased all their current collaborations, including the DC comics line, the John Varvatos collaborations, the new mainline Chucks, and the wide new selection of Jack Purcells.

Continuing the successful collaboration between John Varvatos and Converse, come two revamped pairs of Chuck Taylor All Stars. The classic Painted Flag Chuck Tayloris reinvented in monotone colours with studs. Meanwhile, the studded Chuck is embellished with pyramid studs around the ankle for a little flash.

Phenomenon and Regal Shoes have collaborated to produce these plain toe shoes. Available in black and white, the shoes feature vivid blue soles that are certainly eye-catching. The inner lining of the shoes is similarly blue coloured, with both the Regal Shoes and Phenomenon logos stamped in metallic silver.
Our friends at Generic Surplus are moving up in the world, with this collaboration with Comme des Garcons SHIRT for the spring / summer 2011 season! The collaboration between the two lines includes a pair of simple low cut navy canvas sneakers, as well as a mid-rise pair of boat shoes rendered in the same material and shade. RYZ is a new line seeking to bridge that tricky gap between casual and formal shoes, with this new collection for spring / summer 2011. The line seems to focus on the casual comfort of sneakers, and the simple design of clean formal shoes. Available online now.
Nigel Cabourn just does not rest. It was only yesterday that our buddies at Definitive Touch gave us the info on the collab with Eddie Bauer, and today we find out he’s also doing a collaborative collection with Yuketen for fall / winter 2011. We see plenty of wedge heeled boots, with leather and wool uppers, creating a powerful, rustic look.
New Balance gives us a sneak peek at what it has planned for the fall / winter of 2011. A patriotic look at sneakers, we see that New Balance sticks with old favorites like the 1300, 998 and 991. All three models pictured are rendered in soft nubuck with patriotic colors.
The Ransom by adidas collection continues is promising results, with this look at the Mesa boot, a tough little number from the two. A waterproof suede and Cordura boot, with a high rise lacing system, this is a boot that can surely survive anything this late winter can throw at it.
