Back in the early 90s Doc Martens had a boot competitor called Getagrip. These latest offerings from Comme Des Garcons look suspiciously exact to the profile of a ‘Getagrip’ shoe. What immediately comes in view, is the exaggerated toe curl, which gives the shoe a direct link to utility and military footwear. This results in a very hard edged looking design.
However, the beafy lugged sole is toned down significantly, with the dressy raw lace holes and gorgeous brogue tooling. Completed with a toe cap, again familiar to Getagrip, these not only reinvent the oxford, but celebrate historic youth culture. Available through Comme des Garcons.
