The deck boot is undoubtedly a hot commodity right now, and there’s no shortage of models on the market. So, you’ve got to hand it to Japan’s Journal Standard for bringing a fresh angle to the table. Their Danassa Hi-cut shoe comes in a slick leather-and-suede combo that’s both stylish and functional: it’ll keep your sueded ankles just clear of puddles (or ocean spray and bilgewater if you actually happen to be a seafaring type). For those less concerned about water damage, they also come in equally impressive full-suede models and a variety of colorways.
The bad news, of course, is that you’ll need a Japanese proxy to shop at Journal Standard. Like most Japanese retailers, they don’t ship overseas. More pictures after the jump.
