While handmade shoes have traditionally been the domain of Europeans, George Esquivel’s line of American classics has caused shoe aficionados around the globe to rethink convention.

For the past 15 years Esquivel has been perfecting the old-world craft of shoemaking, while expanding its design boundaries – all in his Southern California shop. “I’m always learning, exploring and experimenting with new ways to combine my favorite elements of the old with the new, to design a product that surpasses both,” says Esquivel.

Today all Esquivels continue to be 100% handmade in Southern California. Using techniques and skills passed on for generations, George Esquivel and his artisans devote over 150 detailed steps to complete each shoe. The subtle nuances and slight imperfections of each pair canonize the craftsmen who hand cut, hammer, stitch, mount and polish each pair. See more at Esquivel
