Dr Martens present their Spring/Summer 2013 collection with a smart lookbook video. Looking back towards their iconic appropriation by groups like the punks and skins of 70′s Britain, Dr. Martens feature Fred & Nick of Pulse Films for the video. ”Tribes are not just premised solely on style, but also by substance. A shared attitude, a spirit, an instinct. For many, their first pair of Dr. Martens is both a statement of self expression and a stamp of belonging. An individual style, connected by a united spirit.”
Following up on the success of last month’s release, footwear design icon Ronnie Fieg has teamed up with Dr. Martens for the second offering for Fall/Winter 2012. The collection takes two of Dr. Martens’ iconic silhouettes, the Rivington Brogue and the Bowery Boot, and finds them injected with Fieg’s more streetwear-oriented aesthetic. The Bowery boot features an oxblood leather upper adorned with camo suede, while the Rivington shoe features a full black and camo suede upper. Both shoes are detailed with full brogue, referencing Dr. Martens’ roots in the United Kingdom. Both models also include the iconic ‘bouncing soul’ insoles and a slip-resistant Goodyear-welted outsole. This capsule collection will launch on Friday, December 7, and be available at Kith New York locations, as well as Ronnie Fieg’s website.
A couple of well-known British brands come together in this promising collaboration collection. Gloverall, masters of the Duffle-Coat and Dr Martens, makers of comfortable, durable shoes with the patented ‘Bouncing Soul’. Using ‘C-cloth’, an exclusive Gloverall fabric, the classic 1460 8 hole boot and 1461 3 eye shoe is created in two colours, black and brown, all featuring checked woolen lining, contrasting calf leather binding and a toggle to finish it all off.
Ronnie Fieg continues his footwear onslaught for the year with the announcement a stunning capsule collection with Dr. Martens. Part 1 will feature a nubuck Rivington brogue with a navy upper and camo midsole as well as the slim fitting Bowery boot in all over camo suede. Additional details include brogue-detailing, air-cushioned insole and goodyear-welted soles for slip-resistance. Camouflage has definitely seen its fair-share of use in 2012, but these manage to seem incredibly fresh and innovative while paying homage to the tradition of Dr. Martens. The first drop from Ronnie Fieg x Dr. Martens Capsule Collection will be available this Friday in very limited quantities here.
Dr. Martens have solicited designer, director and photographer Adrien Sauvage for a collaborative ‘Made in England’ footwear collection. To mark their offering, Mr. Sauvage directed this stunning 7-minute short film titled ‘The Student’, showcasing the four styles. Model Craig Roberts plays the role of ‘the student’, with his actions being outlined by an unseen narrator, reminiscent of the kind of educational films most familiar to those born before 1990.
The collection features four iterations: Midnight Blue Patine, Praline Patina, British Woven Kente Silk and Patent Praline. All shoes feature a premium Made in England construction and of course the famous ‘Bouncing Soles’ that Dr. Martens has made so iconic.
