Shot over nine days, filmmaker Ronin follows the intricate steps involved in creating an entirely gold-plated Nike Zoom Force 1 snowboard boot. Created by Complete Technique – Osamu Koyama – the artist lovingly sketches, molds and creates a final product that blends fashion with high art. The “American Eagle” as it was dubbed was created as part of the Shoeshine Project 2012.
Nike‘s classic Air Epic VNTG running shoe silhouette will be returning this fall in a slew of vintage-inspired tones for the colder months. First released in 1985 as a performance running shoe, the Air Epic VNTG feature mesh and distressed suede uppers atop a midsole that’s been given an oxidized treatment for a proper vintage look. Available in a variety of colors pictured below, the collection is set to release starting in October at select Nike retailers with a retail price of roughly $160 USD.
Minimalist Parisian label A.P.C. has teamed up with Nike on a series of sneakers for Fall 2012. For this limited collection, A.P.C. is adding their aesthetic influence to two of Nike’s most revered and iconic sneakers: the Dunk and the Air Max. Both shoes have been stripped of any flashy colors or extroverted branding, and reduced to a Fall palette of navy, ecru, and brown. The collaborative A.P.C. branding hides just inside the tongue, keeping the timeless heritage of these two sneakers looking and feeling 100% true to their original counterparts. This highly anticipated collaboration should be trickling into select Nike stores towards the end of the summer.

American designer Cole Haan has been utilizing Nike’s cushioning technology to produce some innovative new chukka silhouettes for both men and women. Most recently, the LunarGrand Chukka uses Nike’s Lunarlon cushioning for its soles, adding comfort and improved cushioning to create a pretty unique look. These new color variations add a summery yellow, red and pale denim to the already available mix.
Today we get a preview of another new colorway of the Nike Free Powerlines for Fall 2012. The new Free silhouette comes with an interesting construction and use of materials, combining elements of their cult ‘woven’ shoe with the Nike Free sole design. Here it comes in a red/grey/black version which is probably our favorite yet. Expect the Nike Free Powerlines to drop sometime in July 2012.
Round two from Nike Sportwear and Steven Alan. Last year’s collection was a big favorite in the office with its unique selection of silhouettes re-imagined by Mr. Alan. The latest is the Zoom LeShoot low-top sneaker which uses the same nylon mesh upper that Alan used on the Nike Talache Low in 2011. We are pretty certain that photography does not do the nylon upper justice here. We recommend heading in-store to see them yourselves, but they are, of course, available online now.
The highly-anticipated Nike “Air Yeezy 2″ has finally been revealed, and very much lives up to the hype. Hand skived anaconda textured leather quarter panels are embellished with a debossed Vac-Tech Nike Swoosh. The molded rear is sculpted into a series of spikes, while an engineered strap with scaled down spikes ties the feature together. Bringing the inspiration forward from the late 1980′s basketball foundation of the original Nike Air Yeezy, the II is built on the Nike Air Tech Challenge II tennis shoe outsole and celebrates iconic Nike Cross Training silhouettes with the addition of the molded forefoot strap.
Unnecessary padding was eliminated, and the foot-hugging tongue and plush collar are both comfortable and breathable. Concealed but opulent details reference ancient civilizations, including a loop strap with hieroglyphics that spell out ‘YZY.’ Each screw on lace aglet is obelisk shaped, and the anaconda texture is echoed on the eyelets and leather lace toggle that carries the Roman numeral ‘II.’
The Nike Air Yeezy II in both Platinum and Black editions will release June 9, in limited numbers, at select global retailers.
