Luxury design house Givenchy has made some serious headway with their offerings of decidedly luxurious sneakers favored by rappers and the wealthy alike. For this Velro-strap mid-top sneaker, Givenchy’s signature star branding is forgone in favor of a more subdued embossed logo. An angle-cut collar gives the shoe a decidedly fashion-forward feel, but on the whole the sneaker is classic streetwear; with a simple paneled design and a perforated toebox. Sneaker designer Alejandro Ingelmo has teamed up with street artist Kenny Scharf to release some limited edition pairs of ‘Josh’ collaborative sneakers. The shoes release commemorates Scharf’s latest exhibition, ‘Kolors’ at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in NYC. These canvas sneakers feature a signature Scharf face-logo printed on the outer ankles of the sneakers, as well as a zip-up design on the opposite side. In a blockbuster collaboration, NBA All-Star Dwayne Wade has teamed up with Chinese athletic wear powerhouse Ni Ling to create his pro-model sneaker, the “Way of Wade”. With a campaign titled, “Make Your Own Way” the video showcases Wade’s partnership with the brand and provides a few glimpses into the expansive sneaker offering (last count there are 25+ colorways to choose from). adidas Originals and New York retailer-turned-label Opening Ceremony have released the first look at their second collaborative collection for Spring 2013, releasing this bright striped take on the “Rod Laver Vintage Hi”. Available in two brightly-patterned striped motifs, the sneaker is also offered in straight black or white colorways for those that don’t need the extra attention. Expect these to drop at select adidas Originals retailers soon.
You’re forgiven if you think you might have ended up in the 90′s somehow, because Reebok Classics announced at Project Las Vegas that they are bringing back Shaquille O’Neil’s signature basketball shoes, the ‘Shaq Attaq’ and ‘Shaqnosis’. Created exactly as the originals, the Shaq Attaq will release on April 19th and retail for $160 USD, while the Shaqnosis will hit stores on July 19th for only $125 USD. Who better to team up with than superheroes? Marvel and Vans continue their collaborative footwear offerings into Spring 2013 withe this release. In one of the most interesting collaboration we’ve seen, Tokyo’s Mita Sneakers has teamed up with athletic wear giant Puma to create this ‘Suede Cycle’ sneaker featuring an integrated bike light. The shoe features a suede lace flap to protect them from your pedal-cages, a Champion’s Stripe heel pull and a cleverly integrated light to keep you safe on the roads.
