It’s the season of previews, and the collaboration between Band of Outsiders and Sperry Top-Sider just gets better and better, as this spring / summer 2011 preview proves. What do we love about the Top-Sider? The classic design, the timeless boat shoe design. So BOO keeps the shape, but mixes up the material, using textured leather, colored canvas, and a wide variety of other offerings to give the old boat shoe a new spin.
As part of the ongoing Band of Outsiders – Sperry Topsider collaborations, we’ve gotten a good look at this military styled Chukka. Here’s the thing – we’ve seen this silhouette before. But this time around, it’s redone in what looks like nylon, with a bit of a puffer design, and a military-style stamp on the tongue, giving this chukka a whole new appeal. These Chukkas should be at select Sperry retailers now.
Sperry is probably best known for its boat shoes, but the company that brings you Top-Siders is always good for a great Moccasin too, as evidenced by the Montauk. A classic New England prepster shape is accented with a soft sand suede that makes these shoes something truly special. Available online now. Remember – true WASPs rock them with collars popped and no socks.
As part of of the ongoing Band of Outsiders collaboration with Sperry, we’re pleased to show you this beautiful canvas penny loafer. A comfortable, casual shoe for the smart looking modern man, we’re digging the sort of 1970s vibe given off by the detailing on the soles, and rough sort of natural canvas uppers. Available online now.
It’s not easy to make a Topsider look like anything new or special. However, when two of the largest labels in the game come together something good is bound to happen. Sperry and Band of Outsiders latest offering is indeed something special. With a new pebbled leather insole, a smooth chocolate nylon and suede outer, and some delicate details like the raised upper row of eyelets, this new Topsider collaboration will not be dismissed as just another colorway.
The Sperry x Band of Outsiders Topsider is available at Opening Ceremony
Band of Outsiders teams up with the perennial Sperry Top-Sider for yet another beautiful collection. Full of suedes and canvas’ (with one black pair or suede/leather boat shoes), the collection is sure to go quick. We see a new pair of penny loafers, with the very classic “penny slip” on the tongue. Personally, my favorite are the seersucker boat shoes; simply beautiful. Now, if you want to buy a pair (which you need to, because it is crucial for your Spring/Summer look) head over to Tres Bien Shop and grab one.
Sperry continues to expand its place in the classic shoe department, with the release of the suede version of their timeless Topsider. Rugged Sole recently received a shipment of the navy and sand versions. This delicate and comfortable shoe is perfect for any Spring time social occasion. Available on Monday @ Rugged Sole.
Sperry Top-siders turn 75, and to celebrate this milestone, it’s releasing a special anniversary collection. Sperry has just released its color palette for Spring 2010 and it continues the boldness we enjoy from Sperry. Tan on blue, sky blue and a stony white, navy blue against khaki, tan, green, and the rich navy blue highlight the colorways of 2010 in Sperry-land.
We know that deck shoes are meant to be worn “on deck” and that many people wear them in shorts and without socks, but consider the possibilities as you make your boat shoe choices. You can stretch your boat shoes all year. Try the tan/blue with your favorite khakis and go “green” with your favorite jeans. Come on in…the water’s fine!
