Viberg Scout Boot

This Viberg Scout Boot appeared in our April 2010 archive as a limited release associated with Oki-ni. Its earth-toned upper combines contrasting dark and green panels, giving the boot a workwear-inspired appearance. The old retailer reference records the release’s historical context, not present-day exclusivity or availability.

A casual Scout, not a safety-boot claim

Viberg describes the Scout in its Charcoal Chamois Roughout journal entry as a casual interpretation of its 105 Logger pattern and one of its early non-industrial models. That explains the workwear resemblance without implying this pictured pair is certified for construction work. The later journal entry covers a different edition; its sole and leather specifications should not be assigned to this 2010 boot.

The photographs remain the reference for the archived colour combination. We have not verified an original maker specification for its precise leather weight, panel composition or manufacturing-step count, so those details should not be used to authenticate a resale listing. Viberg identifies itself as a Canadian bootmaker since 1931; that brand history does not resolve this edition’s exact specification.

Before buying an older pair

Ask the seller for the marked size, any documented last or product reference, and clear photographs of both boots. Compare the upper, tongue, lining and soles rather than relying on the Scout name alone. Different editions can have different materials and constructions, and neither a retailer’s old photograph nor a familiar name establishes authenticity.

Check for uneven heel wear, separation around the sole, damaged stitching and deterioration around folds or panel joins. If a repair is needed, ask a repairer about that particular pair before assuming a resole is straightforward. We have not inspected or wear-tested a surviving example of this release.

Fit and care for mixed materials
